Lerner and Rowe Gives Back – Las Vegas 2,000 Presents Giveaway

Las Vegas 2,000 Presents Giveaway

2018 Las Vegas Present GiveawayYesterday’s Las Vegas 2,000 Presents Giveaway community event was one of the best ever for our Lerner and Rowe Gives Back outreach team. Las Vegas Metro Police Department (LVMPD) closed off the alley in between Pennwood and Silver Dollar, near Arville where 2,000 presents were given away in 1 hour and 57 minutes; and not one child left empty handed.

Santa arrived and passed out candy canes and took pictures with all the children, and a few parents. It was a good time for all and a special time for the children to meet and get pictures taken with Santa. Santa received lots of smiles and hugs as well.

It was a blessing to partner with Calvary Chapel Lone Mountain, who supplied over 20 volunteers. Calvary Chapel also provided a jumpy house, games, face painters, popcorn and hot cocoa. The Chapel even manned a prayer table where we prayed for those guests wanting prayer.

Thankful for Santa’s Helpers

Special thanks goes out to our  partners at LVMPD. We appreciated them showing up in force to maintain a stable environment and to reinforce that the officers behind the badge are good people. Additional thanks goes to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. The Mission provided the space needed for receiving and storing the presents. The Mission also provided space the assemble each gift bag that was filled with love and toys.

More About the Arizona Humane Society

For over 60 years, the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) has operated under the strict philosophy that every pet deserves the chance to have a good life. From their humble beginnings as a small shelter run by volunteers, AHS has become Arizona’s largest entity for animal protection and welfare, as well as the designated responder for animal rescue during times of natural disasters.

AHS’ commitment to the welfare of animals has led them to become a leader in education, first-of-their-kind programs, and communication techniques within the animal welfare community.

Everyday, the Arizona Humane Society sees cases of neglect, abandonment, and abuse that motivate their continued efforts to end animal suffering, homelessness, and needless euthanasia. As a result, AHS has established an Ethical No-Kill Philosophy.

Pets rescued by AHS are never euthanized to due to their time at the shelter or space concerns. According to the Arizona Humane Society, “by implementing this visionary Ethical No-Kill Philosophy, we’ve achieved what once seemed impossible and saved an additional 60,000 lives in the last four years.”

Playground Build at the Arizona Recreation Center for the Handicapped (ARCH) located at 1550 W Colter St, Phoenix, AZ 85015. We will be helping to construct a new playground to replace the one ARCH lost to a fire this past summer. Building of the playground will begin at 8am and conclude at 2pm. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for volunteers.

Fiesta Bowl Charities has partnered with KABOOM! throughout the 2017-18 grant cycle to construct two brand new playgrounds for communities in the state of Arizona. These playgrounds are built from the ground up by the hands of hard-working volunteers and community partners, and provide a source of exercise and entertainment for more than 4,000 children. Lerner and Rowe Gives Back is proud to announce our sponsorship of, and participation in, such a generous effort.

More About the Arizona Recreation Center for the Handicapped

ARCH was established in 1975 through the combined efforts of community leaders and various Valley charities (Muscular Dystrophy Association, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Easter Seals, United Cerebral Palsy, Arthritis Foundation, and the Association for Retarded Citizens) to fill avoid within the community. Before the creation of ARCH, there were not any local agencies that offered a place for people with disabilities to socialize or participate in therapeutic recreation and rehabilitation programs.

According to their mission statement, “People with disabilities should be given opportunities to learn about basic living skills, the functions of self-care, medical care, parenting skills, sex education, child care, home safety, money management, home management, consumer education, community resources and many more.” For over three decades, ARCH has established itself as the preeminent resource for  adults and children with disabilities to find recreation and socialization programs and services throughout the Phoenix metro area.

We know how important it is to support children and especially their play, and we are honored to be a part of this playground. If you would like to join our efforts, contact us today.

Lerner and Rowe Gives Back Sponsors Project Hero Honor Ride 2018

Lerner and Rowe Gives Back is proud to have sponsored the annual Project Hero Honor Ride for 2018.

The Project Hero Honor Ride is a non-competitive cycling event where people who are active in the military, veterans, first-responders, and others all get to ride on a variety of trails, anywhere from 10 – 100 miles in length. Project Hero was founded in 2008, and it is a groundbreaking national non-profit organization dedicated to helping veterans and first responders who are affected by PTSD, TBI, and other injuries find resilience and joy in their lives.

Our own IT Manager, Jan Santiago, showed up to the November 10 event, along with over 750 other riders to the 62-mile-long course in Las Vegas. The trail began at the Clark County Government Center, went south down Las Vegas Boulevard, west around Red Rock Canyon, and finally downhill back to the start.

The Las Vegas Fire Department, its Honor Guard, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police all showed up to honor our veterans. The event began with the hoisting of the American flag between two fire trucks, and riders on nearly every type of bicycle began their ride by passing through twenty American flags at the starting line, symbolizing the average of twenty veterans who commit suicide on a daily basis because of PTSD.

Also, spread the message: Never forget our veterans and all those who have honorably served our country!

Did You Miss the Project Hero Honor Ride?
