It’s that time of year again… summertime, and the HEAT IS ON. Lerner and Rowe Gives Back and The Phoenix Rescue Mission need your help more than ever! Last year, Lerner & Rowe Gives Back collected a life changing 3,165 CASES of water (that’s 73,320 bottles of water) for the valley homeless and distributed them into the city along with other vital items. But we CAN DO BETTER!Did you know that although homelessness is down 3% nationwide, it is UP 11% in the valley, and the heat can and does kill! So we really need your help to blow last years numbers OUT OF THE WATER!

Kevin Rowe, founder of the Lerner and Rowe Gives Back Foundation, was gracious enough this year to kick off the drive and set an example by donating a $5,000 check to Phoenix Rescue Mission!  You can help too by donating bottled water, socks, hats, sunscreen, and / or a financial contribution of any amount. For the past 10 years, CBS KMLE radio has been raising donations for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital through their Commitment to Kids program. Philanthropically-minded companies team up with KMLE and their sister stations KOOL and JAMZ to help the patients and families of Phoenix Children’s.

Each company comes up with their own unique way of giving back and it all adds up to huge donations for Phoenix Children’s!

Gear up and save the date for AHS’ 5th annual Puttin’ for Pooches motorcycle ride Friday, April 12, 2013. This unique ride attracts animal lovers and motorcycle enthusiasts alike to benefit the homeless pets whocome through our doors. Each year, AHS welcomes the opportunity to partner with key business leaders to develop unique involvement and sponsorship opportunities.

We are thrilled to announce that this year’s ride will again align with Arizona Bike Week’s 2013 festivities. Chandler Harley Davidson will be home to the start of the ride, arming riders with a hearty complimentary breakfast, one-on-one store help and the opportunity to mingle with other motorcycle buffs. AHS will be onsite to share information about our many programs and services while showcasing a few of our very own adoptable pets!

The ride will take participants from Chandler, down to our 20 acre Campus for Compassion at South Mountain where they will be given an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the shelter and all of the lifesaving programs the ride will benefit. From there, bikers will enjoy the open road as they cruise to a catered lunch at Cave Creek’s Harold’s Corral and then finally ending at Arizona Bike Week’s Cyclefest at West World for free admission into the day’s activities.

Each $40 rider registration includes one admission into Cyclefest, (4) complimentary raffle tickets for a lunch time prize drawing and a limited addition Puttin’ for Pooches 2013 branded t-shirt and patch.

For 56 years, the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) has fostered the belief that every pet deserves a good life. More than an adoption center, AHS cares for more than 44,000 animals annually, responding to nearly 27,000 calls for help through the EAMT program and treating more than 11,000 homeless pets in our Second Chance Animal Hospital. AHS also houses a public clinic at each of our shelters, in addition to a mobile clinic, providing low-cost spay/neuter, wellness and reduced-cost veterinary services to all pet owners, regardless of income.

With a yearly operating budget of just over $14 million, AHS is proud that an astonishing 86 cents from every dollar received goes directly to our programs and services for homeless animals.

Whether it’s a rescue by our Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ (EAMT™), a treatment in our Second Chance Animal Hospital™ or time to heal in one of our foster homes before adoption, AHS counts on the support of our generous corporate partners to make these programs a possibility.

Lerner and Rowe G.B. is promoting the 32nd Annual Luke Shoot-Out Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Luke Air Force Base Falcon Dunes Golf Course, 15100 W. Northern Ave.Registration is at 6:30 am with a shotgun start at 7:30 am.  The shoot-out is brought to you by the Glendale Chamber of Commerce and a portion of the proceeds benefit Operation Warm Heart!

On February 27th, 2012, Kevin played in this wonderful event for the Make a Difference Foundation. Celebrities included Eddie Money, Kato Kaylan and more. There was also a private performance by Eddie Money at Temple Bar.

Make A Difference is a Non-Profit Corporation dedicated to raising awareness and supporting charitable causes. This dedication takes place in the form of scholarships, financial contributions and non-profit setup and creation. Their mission is twofold: The first is to immediately help causes that are near and dear to our hearts and the second is to mentor other charities in hopes of creating more self-sustaining, recognizable non-profits that can lead others in the future.

This year’s tournament benefitted The Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center, whose main mission is to advance research and provide a lifetime of support for individuals with autism and their families.
