Lerner & Rowe Gives Back awarded a $5,000 grant to the Phoenix Rescue Mission (PRM) to cover the cost of all the food and hygiene item bags distributed through PRM’s mobile food pantry program on October 17th.
That day, PRM’s “Mobile Food Pantry” truck makes stops at multiple locations across the Valley throughout the year, providing food and hygiene items to those who lack transportation access. This allowed them to access PRM’s resources and programs without needing to visit one of the main campuses.

Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona –Supporting veterans to ensure they don’t walk alone in times of need
On Saturday, October 14th, members from our Tucson team laced up and showed up to support veterans during the Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona’s (BIAAZ) annual Salute Our Vets fun run and walk at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park. Their enthusiastic efforts not only complemented our sponsorship, but also resulted in two 2nd-place awards.
More importantly, funds generated through sponsorships like ours and other contributions will directly contribute to BIAZZ’s Veteran & Military Emergency Relief Fund.
Fasts Facts About the Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona
According to BIAAZ, there are more than 600,000 veterans in Arizona. Within that group, there’s a growing need to provide assistance to those recovering from various stages of brain injuries, PTSD, trauma, or suicidal ideation.
The following fast facts showcase just how much this alliance positively impacts Arizona veterans:
Founded in Tucson in 1983, BIAAZ is a statewide organization that annually serves 9,000+ veterans and military families across Arizona.
BIAAZ continuously empowers veterans, their families, and caregivers through an array of support services, education, and advocacy that helps them to adapt, recover, and connect to their peers and community for an improved quality of life.
Additionally, BIAAZ offers assistance at no cost to veterans.

Aside from a generous $5,000 sponsorship, our team once again “pinked out” as enthusiastic participants of the annual Check for a Lump Pink Out 5K. 2023 marked the seventh year for this breast cancer awareness and fundraising event in Phoenix.
One of the many positive aspects that we love about the Pink Out 5k is that 100% of funds raised stay LOCAL. Check for a Lump uses these monies to help provide free services like mammograms, testing, wigs, education, and support within our Arizona community.

Committed to Combating Hunger in Maricopa County
Lerner and Rowe Gives Back has once again teamed up with ALT AZ 93.3 and the Valley of the Sun United Way in 2023 to help combat hunger in Maricopa County. Our team was pleased to donate $5,500 to help offset associated costs for purchasing shelf-stable pantry items.
As before, the goal of the October 2023 United Way Pantry Pack Program is to provide 1,500 meals to help ensure that local students and their families have enough food staples to get them through the month. United Way supplied the packs and our team joined ALT AZ 93-3 and Whataburger to assemble packs before they got delivered to a local school.
Participating schools include Roosevelt, Cartwright, and Murphy Elementary School Districts, as well as Academia Del Pueblo and Frank Elementary School located in South and Southwest Phoenix, Maryvale, and Guadalupe. Furthermore, these schools have free and reduced lunch eligibility rates of 81% to 99%. Each school also determines distribution of pantry pants to families that have the highest need.
What’s Inside Each United Way Pantry Pack?
Pantry Packs are filled with nutritional items that may include:
Oatmeal
Fruit cups
Granola bars
Macaroni and cheese
Canned chicken
Peanut butter crackers

Lerner and Rowe Gives Back presented a $30,000 check to Ryan House, a 2023 grant recipient of our foundation. One of the goals of Ryan House is to directly improve the quality of life for children who are medically fragile, as well as to provide supportive programs that serve their families through year-round activities and respite.
More About the Sponsor-A-Stay Program
Need for services provided by Ryan House has steadily increased each year and the organization provides all services free of charge. Annually, children participate in more than 1,000 life-enhancing therapeutic activities during their stays at Ryan House.

Making sure that every kid has the opportunity and tools to play
Lerner & Rowe Gives Back had the honor of presenting a $5,000 grant check to 180 Sports AZ at Cortez High School to support their local athletics initiative, which is focused on enhancing youth sports organizations located within disadvantaged communities across Arizona.
More specifically, the project directly impacts five different teams and three school districts within underserved communities that have youth sports organizations, but lack the resources to provide lights, turf, uniforms, and proper equipment.
180 Sports AZ collaborates with the Positive Coaching Alliance and City Serve to identify individuals in need, ensuring that any raised funds are maximized for the most significant positive effect.

Earlier this week our Lerner & Rowe Gives Back grant patrol team presented a $15,000 check to Child Crisis Arizona. As one of our 2023 grant recipients, this charity will apply gifted funds towards its Group Homes for Foster Teens.
The Group Homes are geared towards serving long-term residents (from birth through 21-years) and focuses heavily on life skills, education, and planning for post-secondary education to prepare the youth for exiting the child welfare system as adults.
In addition, program participants will receive essential wraparound services aimed at fostering healing, ensuring a sense of security and stability, and ultimately breaking the cycle of generational abuse, all in alignment with their vision of “Safe Kids. Strong Families.”
