On September 19, our Lerner and Rowe outreach team took to the Indiana Dunes State Park to participate in Mermaid Straw’s World Clean-up Day event!

Our team hiked the dunes and walked the beach and shoreline, collecting nearly 40lbs of trash! Thanks to our amazing staff for spending their Saturday morning getting down and dirty and keeping our beach and dunes trash free!

Social distancing may have forced the cancellation of the 7th Annual Military Assistance Mission (MAM) Freedom Breakfast, however, it did not stop the organization and its board of directors from keeping their promise to never forget and honor those who sacrificed so much for our country.

Our team is honored to have been the title sponsor of the 9/11 Never Forget: Family, Service, Sacrifice half-hour special televised event that Arizona’s Family put together today to benefit MAM.

It’s Not Too Late to Help

The COVID-19 crisis is driving up demand as spouses and guard members get laid off because of the pandemic.

MAM provides financial and morale assistance to the lowest ranking military members.

Lerner and Rowe Gives Back was honored to once again support Friendship Circle of Arizona by joining other people and companies as a matcher for FriendDay, a virtual event that was held on September 8, 2020. This event was launched as a means to replenish budget setbacks due to the cancellation of the organization’s annual fundraising dinner because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  

We are pleased to say that together, our community helped raise over $88,500 to fund the wide range of services, projects, and facilities the organization uses to touch the lives of many children with special needs and their families.  

How Friendship Circle of Arizona Works to Uplift Local Communities

Friendship Circle of Arizona is a local organization that benefits the families of children with special needs throughout the Greater Phoenix Area. The organization does this by offering boundless promise, hope, and unconditional love to all members of the community, regardless of religious affiliation.

Friendship Circle of Arizona is truly unique in that a majority of the organization’s volunteers are teenagers. These teens have proven to be remarkable in building close friendships with children with special needs through inclusive, positive peer support roles. In addition, teen volunteers learn the importance of selfless giving and in turn receive the priceless gift of gratitude.

Back to School Events for Tucson Students

750 backpacks filled with school supplies were given away in Tucson, Arizona on August 15.

We are grateful for the assistance from GAP Ministries and their community partners to help distribute the backpacks at Ministerios Ammijezreel and the Family Christian Center.

We are also grateful to each of our team members that volunteered their time to help fill each backpack.

Mutual collaboration and a shared drive to give back and help others in the community is what helps make events like our Tucson backpack giveaway possible.

Merrillville and Chicago Back to School Events

This past weekend our Lerner & Rowe team held two amazing Back to School Backpack Giveaway events! We were able to give away 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to the communities of Merrillville, IN and Chicago, IL. Our drive-thru style events proved to be successful in efficiently and safely getting backpacks to families.

Thank you to our amazing staff who came out to help. Thank you to our partners at the Chicago Police Department and staff of Richard J. Daley Elementary Academy for your assistance and donation of space. And thank you to the staff at Hidden Lake Park and Ross Township for all of the assistance your teams provided.

The Lerner and Rowe Gives Back team sponsored its annual Back-to-School event this year at Peterson Elementary. We partnered with Clark County School District Police, Spring Meadows Presbyterian Church, and Dean Peterson Elementary to provide a CONTACTLESS DRIVE-THRU backpack giveaway.

The event went well with an added benefit for several of the children were able to see their teachers for the first time in over 6 months. One little boy was so excited to see his teacher, that he got out of the car and ran over to hug his teacher.

In just over two and a half hours, we were able to give away 750 backpacks and not one child left empty handed.

“We love doing the back to school event each year as it gives us the opportunity to share some love with the children and their families who need a little helping hand. We were honored to provide much needed school supplies; and it was especially heartwarming to see the many reunions between the children and their teachers!

We also could not do what we do, without the support and partnership we enjoy with CCSD PD, Spring Meadows Church, and the teachers and staff at Dean Peterson Elementary.”

Heroes Are Never Forgotten

Lerner and Rowe Gives Back is thrilled to show our support of Arizona military service members and their families as the $15K Medal of Honor (Title Sponsor) of Military Assistance Mission’s (MAM) seventh annual 9/11 Freedom Breakfast! For 2020, the breakfast is going virtual for a half-hour televised special airing on 3TV. 

During the breakfast, local military heroes and celebrities will share stories of service, family, and personal sacrifices that will inspire and pay tribute to the transformative events of 9/11.

9/11 Never Forget Freedom Breakfast Special

Roman Rozelle, Army combat veteran and former Green Beret, will share his triumph in overcoming poverty, addiction, and combat injuries and the pursuit of his dreams to becoming a father, wrestler, and entrepreneur. 

NASA Astronaut Frank Culbertson will also reflect on seeing the terrorist attacks from space.

Additionally, former Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Luis “Gonzo” Gonzalez will also speak about suspending the World Series after 9/11 and now pausing pro sports because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Join Us in Supporting Military Families in Arizona

Our team strongly believes in supporting active and retired members of the military and their families. So much so that Kevin Rowe became an active board member of MAM and supports other organizations and activities that seek to assist those who serve to protect the U.S. Join us in providing assistance to help struggling Arizona military families cover basic needs such as rent, mortgage, car payment, car insurance, utilities, and food by making a donation online now. 

Our Las Vegas outreach team is accepting bottled water donations at the Lerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys law office located at 4795 South Durango Drive throughout the summer, especially on the “excessive heat warning” days.

To help maintain social distancing, all donated bottled water may be left at the firm’s back door from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The life-saving water will be delivered to several local charities and social service agencies that offer supportive assistance to vulnerable homeless populations.     

Help Prevent Heat-related Deaths in Las Vegas

Las Vegas heat-related deaths have been increasing in the last several years, according to a June analysis by the Desert Research Institute. As of August 31 of last year, 65 people had died of hyperthermia or in situations in which heat played a factor, reports the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Since mid-March the food demand on St. Mary’s Food Bank has increased by 700%. That staggering amount is what prompted the creation of the Mark & NeanderPaul Feed Arizona food drive.

Our Gives Back team couldn’t be more pleased to help kick off the drive with a $5,000 donation to help the food bank replenish their supplies and feed local families. 

Donations will be accepted online now through June 13, 2020. On the last day of the food drive, Mark & NeanderPaul will be at a Phoenix Safeway store located at 810 E Glendale Ave. from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. accepting in-person donations.

$5,000 Provides 35,000 Meals

At first glance seeing that $5,000 = 35,000 meals may seem like an unlikely number. However, St. Mary’s Food Bank knows how to optimize every dollar spent, literally. For every $1 received the food bank is able to provide 7 meals.  

We invite others to join us in helping feed our neighbors in need. As you can see, any dollar amount donated will add up to a significant gift. Together we can do more!
