Virtual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Nevada

LETR for Special Olympics Nevada

Our Las Vegas outreach team joins other community individuals and organizations in supporting Special Olympics Nevada at the annual Law Enforcement Torch Runยฎ (LETR) on September 26 at Edward W. Clark High School from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This yearโ€™s torch run has been transitioned from a relay to a virtual event to ensure the health and safety of all participants.

Participants are welcome to pick up swag bags for one of our teammates that consists of hand sanitizer, sunblock, and other items that were donated to Special Olympics Nevada.

Fundraiser & Public Awareness Event

LETR is a fundraising vehicle that also helps increase awareness about the many supportive programs offered by Special Olympics Nevada. Both of these activities then enhance the quality of life of Special Olympics athletes in Nevada.

If you have any questions regarding the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Nevada, please reach out to Allyce Pierson at [email protected] or Scott Turek at [email protected].

Recap of 2020 Special Olympic Torch Run

Our Lerner and Rowe Gives Back team enjoyed the honor of sponsoring and participating in the Special Olympics Nevada Touch Run. Due to continued social gathering restrictions, the Special Olympics athletes could not join us, as in previous years. But that didnโ€™t stop us from carrying the torch in a two-hour relay raising money for this vital charity.

Our team joined the law enforcement officers from Clark County School District Police Department, Clark County Detention, and North Las Vegas Police Department, to ย walk and, or run carrying the Special Olympic Torch around the Clark High School track.

โ€œLerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys have been long-time fans and supporters of the athletes who participate in the Special Olympics. We thank Special Olympics Nevada and the Clark County School District Police Department for giving us the opportunity to participate with them in the Torch Run.โ€ โ€”Glen Lerner

Candlelighters Superhero 5K Virtual Run 2020

Our Lerner and Rowe Gives Back team supported the Candlelighters Superhero 5K run, which was virtual due to social distancing requirements. To participate, entrants were encouraged to run or walk one of many routes that were set up to avoid large gatherings.

Virtual dates for the 2020 run were from Saturday, September 19 through Friday, September 25.

โ€œCandlelighters is a wonderful charity that provides emotional support, quality of life programs, and financial assistance for children and their families affected by childhood cancer. We are grateful for the opportunity to support organizations like Candlelighters that faithfully serve children and families in need within our community.โ€ –Glen Lerner

MAM 9/11 Never Forget: Family, Service, Sacrifice Special TV Event

Social distancing may have forced the cancellation of the 7th Annual Military Assistance Mission (MAM) Freedom Breakfast, however, it did not stop the organization and its board of directors from keeping their promise to never forget and honor those who sacrificed so much for our country.

Our team is honored to have been the title sponsor of the 9/11 Never Forget: Family, Service, Sacrifice half-hour special televised event that Arizona’s Family put together today to benefit MAM.

Itโ€™s Not Too Late to Help

The COVID-19 crisis is driving up demand as spouses and guard members get laid off because of the pandemic.

MAM provides financial and morale assistance to the lowest ranking military members.

There are three ways for you to join us in supporting our local military troops:

  1. Purchase a 9/11 Never Forget T-shirt
  2. Donate online a minimum of $10 and receive a Heroes Never Forgotten bracelet
  3. Text to Give: Text MAM to 555678 to donate
*With your purchase or donation, you will receive a direct link to watch the 9/11 Never Forget Special on demand.*

Please note that every dollar stays local to fund financial aid grants that provide the following:

  • Rent assistance to avoid eviction
  • Grocery gift cards
  • Car payments
  • Utility assistance
  • Gap grants for veterans waiting on their GI Bill for school
  • Back to school supplies for kids
  • Baby showers for expecting parents
  • Christmas gifts for families
  • Morale boosters like seats for soldiers and home remodels for wounded heroes

Actively Supporting Our Troops

Our team strongly believes in supporting active and retired members of the military and their families. So much so that Kevin Rowe became an active board member of MAM and supports other organizations and activities that seek to assist those who serve to protect the U.S.

Together, we can do more to help help prop each other up and make our world a better place.

Supporters of Friendship Circle of Arizonaโ€™s 2020 ‘FriendDay’ Event

2020 FriendDay

Lerner and Rowe Gives Back was honored to once again support Friendship Circle of Arizona by joining other people and companies as a matcher for FriendDay, a virtual event that was held on September 8, 2020. This event was launched as a means to replenish budget setbacks due to the cancellation of the organization’s annual fundraising dinner because of the COVID-19 pandemic.ย ย

We are pleased to say that together, our community helped raise over $88,500 to fund the wide range of services, projects, and facilities the organization uses to touch the lives of many children with special needs and their families.

How Friendship Circle of Arizona Works to Uplift Local Communities

Friendship Circle of Arizona is a local organization that benefits the families of children with special needs throughout the Greater Phoenix Area. The organization does this by offering boundless promise, hope, and unconditional love to all members of the community, regardless of religious affiliation.

Friendship Circle of Arizona is truly unique in that a majority of the organizationโ€™s volunteers are teenagers. These teens have proven to be remarkable in building close friendships with children with special needs through inclusive, positive peer support roles. In addition, teen volunteers learn the importance of selfless giving and in turn receive the priceless gift of gratitude.ย
