The Walter Hoving Home in Las Vegas will be throwing their annual Gala to raise money for their cause. Glen Lerner, one of the founders of Lerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys, will be a guest speaker at their event.

About the Hoving Home

Since June 1967, the Hoving Home has been a center for hope for hundreds of women who reclaimed their lives after drug and alcohol abuse.

The Hoving Home is a residential spiritually-based home that is a non-profit organization that serves women ages 18 and over who have been involved in drug addiction, alcoholism, prostitution and other life-controlling problems. The 6- or 12-month programs help them to rebuild their lives in an atmosphere of warmth, trust, support and love.

The Hoving Home has four homes for women located in CA, NY, NJ and Las Vegas Nevada. Since opening in 1967 the Hoving Home has impacted the lives of 23,216 women.

The women live there for a year, paying a $500 entry fee and $500 a month. It costs about $2,000 a month per woman to run the home. The program, which boasts an 86 percent success rate, receives no government assistance.

The program includes daily devotions, reading the Bible in its entirety, and each woman facing her addiction by understanding what led her down that path, whether it was grief, rejection, abandonment, molestation or some other factor.

Sponsors of Candlelighters Superhero 5k Las VegasOur Las Vegas area legal team suits up once again in support of local families battling childhood cancer for the 2018 Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada’s annual Shine for Superhero 5K run and 1-mile walk.

For eight years we have actively supported the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada. The Superhero 5k is a favorite event for our team.

Let me begin with the words, “thank you” as a way to express my heart felt gratitude for your assistance in underwriting this year’s Back to School Block Party. It’s but a few days after  the event, and the  process of putting everything away will take a while, but in my mind is the  huge crowd that was here, and how much they appreciated everything. Allow me to give you a brief review:

*We started setup promptly at 11, and already the crowd had started forming. We began immediately to set  up canopies to provide relief from the sun, and took  out tables and chairs to make the waiting more comfortable.

*We began at 1, with all the canopies in place, snow cone, popcorn, and cotton  candy machines al­ ready running. Hot dogs were being served, games now being played, and backpacks being disbursed. Each child would pick a backpack  color containing teacher requested supplies (grade appropriate), receiving also ear buds, a dental hygiene kit, a New Testament, a box of Girl Scout cookies, coupons for food/appetizers from Texas Corral and/or Chick-Fil-A, and pencils, paper, ink pens, etc. After receiving the  back pack, then  it was on to the socks/underwear distribution points. The lines were steady for well over 2 hours.

*Throughout the afternoon, we hosted a magic show  and a “Carol’s Cuisine Fruit of the Spirit pie baking class,” along with haircuts, nail polishing, games, jump houses, volleyball, ice cream from Culvers, peanuts from Texas Corral, and just about everything to entertain a child, while parents and grandparents looked through the 25+ tables full of good  used clothing.

About 750 backpacks were distributed to the children/youth of Merrillville/Gary/Hobart/Lake Station/Calumet Township. We have tracking on all the students and will use that information to see how else we can serve the many families in our area.

Thank you! You helped make all this (and so much more)  possible on August 11. Thank you for your generosity, your love and concern  for the children/youth of this area, and the encouragement given to not only students, but parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles as they direct their children to return well prepared to the classrooms to achieve, grow and become tomorrows adults. Thank you.

Lerner & Rowe Gives Back hosted two Back to School Supplies Giveaways in the Phoenix & Tucson areas. Our primary goal with each of these events was to give back and focus on helping local school aged kids in need.

The turn out was bigger than we’ve seen before! At the Phoenix Back to School Supplies Giveaway there was close to a 1,000 people that turned out!

Lerner and Rowe Gives Back founder Kevin Rowe stopped by Arizona radio station 98KUPD to drop off a $5,000 check for the 2018 Holmberg’s Heat Stroke Open on August 25th at Talking Stick Resort.

Jim Holmberg shared his enthusiasm regarding the donation by commenting,”…with the Heat Stroke Open coming up on August 25th, this guy is dropping a check off for $5,000. Which will make this the biggest Heat Stroke Open donation to the Humane Society by far in any of the years we’ve done this.”

Holmberg also extended his appreciation for how Lerner and Rowe Gives Back teamed up with the radio station for the station’s annual Operation Hydration water drive. As part of that partnership, we’ve agreed to double any water donations the station receives in a collaborative effort to support the Phoenix Rescue Mission’s summer heat relief campaign. This partnership is in addition to our own water bottle collection drive.

Lerner and Rowe Gives Back is excited to announce our support of local youth with our Back to School Events in Illinois! Come see us in Chicago on August 25th, at the Chicagoland Christian Center located at E. 103rd St., 60628. The party starts at 10:00 a.m. and will last until to 2:00 p.m.

We will be partnering with Chicago Cares to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to community children during both events. But, you’ll want to show up early as there is a limited supply available. Additional items will be available to give away while supplies last.

Children must be present and accompanied by an adult to participate in giveaways.

3rd Annual Back to School - Family of God MinistryWe are thrilled to announce that over 2,000 disadvantaged school aged youth in Tucson and Phoenix showed up for our annual Lerner and Rowe Back to School events. Even with these two community events behind us, our Lerner and Rowe Gives Back Foundation is still not through assisting Arizona students prepare for the upcoming school year.

In addition to our previous efforts, our foundation is giving another $1,000 to support the Family of God Ministry’s 3rd Annual Back to School Giveaway.

This faith-based organization and their sponsors will distribute new backpacks, school supplies, socks, underwear and uniforms to children in need on Saturday, August 4th from 8 AM to 11 AM at Azukar Coffee in Phoenix (7246 S. Central Ave, Phoenix 85042).

Back to School Event with Refuge Ministries

July 28th Back to School Event Las VegasAs August approaches, parents and students alike find themselves looking forward to the 2018-2019 school year. In the spirit of education, Lerner and Rowe Gives Back will be giving away backpacks stuffed with Clark County School District designated supplies.

These supplies will perfectly meet the needs of students from first to sixth grade.*

Parents are asked to RSVP in advance at sendrsvp.com/glengivesback or by calling 888-902-3011, x1400. Since backpack supplies are limited, children must be present and accompanied by an adult to receive a backpack. Parents will also need to bring a valid ID to confirm their RSVP in person.

Together We Can Do More

Lerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys has partnered with Refuge Ministries and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to give away these supply-filled backpacks.
