Lerner and Rowe Gives Back Packs Hope with Phil’s Friends

Lerner and Rowe Gives Back Packs Hope with Phil’s Friends

On Friday, June 22, the team at Lerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys will do our part to spread hope to those who so desperately need it. From 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., we will be at the Indiana Hope Center in Crown Point, Indiana, packing and sending the light of hope in the form of care packages with Phil’s Friends. Our team is excited to lend our time to such a noble cause.

Phil’s Friends and Their Mission of Hope

Phil’s Friends is a nonprofit, Christian agency with the mission to bring hope and support to those battling cancer in the United States. They do this by providing care packages and weekly Cards of Hope to patients and their families. They also invoke the power of prayer to assist and support cancer patients on their road to recovery.

Founder Phil Zielke knows exactly how that kind of hopelessness and defeat can cloud one’s mindset after a cancer diagnosis. As a two-time cancer survivor himself, Mr. Zielke is no stranger to these feelings. These feelings of despair can have a crippling effect on not only the patient, but their family as well. That is why Phil’s Friends is committed to being the light for families that have found themselves in the dark.

A caring volunteer assembles each package with items to bring comfort and joy to its recipient. Along with the care packages, patients will also receive weekly encouragement from our volunteers in the form of Cards of Hope. These hand-colored cards aim to let the patient and their family know that they have more people in their corner praying for their recovery.

“A cancer diagnosis can leave a person feeling hopeless, alone, scared, and helpless. These feelings aren’t limited to the person who receives the diagnosis. Cancer can send shockwaves throughout a whole family. We make a living out of bringing people closure during some of their darkest times.

Volunteering with Phil’s Friends gives us the chance to be the bearers of light in a seemingly hopeless situation,” says attorney Glen Lerner. “We are excited and proud to give our time and energy to provide hope to those who need the strength to continue one of the hardest fights of their life.”

Four Pets for Four Vets Donation Match

4 Pets for Vets Donor Sponsors

EXCITING UPDATE:

Kevin Rowe upped the ante by agreeing to give Soldier’s Best Friends a total of $8,500 to help bump the total funds raised for Veterans to just under $60k!

The original amount Lerner and Rowe Gives Back planned to donate was $4,500. It was then raised to $5,000.

However, during Kevin’s on-air interview with KSLX, a grand total amount was announced for the fundraiser. At that point he decided to increase the total donation amount to $8,500.

Which helped bump the final tally to just under $60k – so 12 Veteran’s will be paired with a service companion!!! On average Soldier’s Best Friend pairs an approximately 60 soldiers and dog a year.

Listen to Kevin’s KSLX FM interview now regarding Lerner and Rowe Gives Back’s donation to Soldier’s Best Friend.

(Original Post Follows)

Donation Match to Benefit Soldier’s Best Friends

Soldier’s Best Friend is an Arizona-based 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization who are dedicated to pair, train and provide service dogs and at no cost to the veteran. All this week Mark and Neanderpaul of KSLX team up with Soldier’s Best Friend to help raise funds to cover the costs of pairing four specialty-trained dogs with four Vets with disabilities. Lerner and Rowe Gives Back loves how these radio hosts are taking action to make a difference in the lives of four local combat Veterans.

To help reach this goal of pairing four pets with four Vets, we’ve agreed to pitch in and match up to $4,500 in donations – the price of one dog!

Join us is giving back! Make a donation now at kslx.com/4-pets-for-vets.

Forever Homes for Forever Friends

Once a Veteran and dog are paired, they will train together to build a trusting relationship that saves two lives at once and inspires countless others.

How are two lives saved at once? Because another exemplary quality of Soldier’s Best Friend is that most of the dogs the organization works with are rescued from local shelters.

So donations not only help improve the life of a Vet living with a disability, they also help a homeless dog be placed into a forever home!

6th Annual Centennial High School Football Golf Tournament Sponsors

Charity Golf Fundraiser

Packbackers Booster Club - Centennial High School

Tee Off for Centennial High School Football Program

Lerner and Rowe gives back to Centennial High School Football athletes by sponsoring their 6th Annual Golf Tournament hosted by the Centennial Packbackers Booster Club. The charity event takes place at GCU Golf Resort in Phoenix on Saturday, June 9th, 2018.

Budget Cuts Chopping Away at School Sports Programs

Due to budget cuts effecting high school sports, a portion of funds raised from the golf tournament will directly assist these local student athletes. Most importantly, offset team expenses no longer covered.

Doing so gives the team a chance to focus on the game. And, less on whether or not there are funds for:

  • New uniforms;
  • Much needed equipment;
  • Player camps;
  • Field repairs; and,
  • Other items.

The temporary switch from the football field to golf greens also makes for a fun fundraising alternative.

Tradition of Success

The Centennial High School football program has a tradition of success reflected by the team’s wins to include: Arizona Division II State Champions for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2014 and 2017. The Packbackers group of volunteers and friends of the football players and coaching staff make all the difference in supporting the continued success of the program.

Get Better Acquainted with the Centennial Packbackers Booster Club

The Packbackers are a nonprofit 501c(3) group compiled of a group of volunteers that include family members, parents, alumni and friends of Centennial Football players and coaching staff. All of whom dedicate themselves to providing financial support for the continued success of the Centennial High School football program.

National Donut Day 2018

National Donut Day 2018

Savory Story Behind National Doughnut Day

As you may know, the first Friday of June has a connection to one particularly savory sweet confection – the donut. But, do you know the story behind National Donut Day? The first donut day event took place in 1938 in Chicago as a fundraiser created by The Salvation Army to assist the disadvantage during The Great Depression.

Present Day Chicago continues to keep the tradition of giving back alive. Through The Salvation Army’s Mobile Feeding and Outreach Program, funds raised on National Donut support Chicagoland area:

  • Food pantries;
  • Nutrition programs for children; in addition to,
  • Meals for senior citizens and homeless.

You can support The Salvation Army’s effort by making an online donation now!

Other Fun Facts About National Donut Day

  • National Donut Day pays tribute to The Salvation Army “Donut Lassies” who supported front line troops during World War I.
  • The nickname “Donut Lassies” originated from two volunteers that used limited supplies, resources, and soldier helmets to fry much-appreciated donuts for the troops. (Seven at a time.)
  • “Donut Lassies” didn’t just make donuts for soldiers. They also provided stamps, writing supplies, meals, and mending services.
  • National Donut Day helps raise funds and increase awareness about the many social service programs The Salvation Army offers.

How Lerner and Rowe Gives Back Supports Efforts of The Salvation Army

Lerner and Rowe Injury Attorneys proudly partners with The Salvation Army in the Chicagoland area. One annual event the law firm gives back to and supports is the distribution of family meals over the Thanksgiving holiday.
