Throughout the 2018 season, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) honors local medical professionals, law-enforcement officers, firefighters, members of the armed forces, and a number of other professions charged with the safety and well-being of the public by offering them discounted race tickets and other tributes.

Lerner and Rowe Gives Back is pleased to support these efforts in honoring Arizona first responders by partnering with 98KUPD in sponsoring the NHRA Arizona Nationals – Championship Drag Races February 23rd through 25th at Wild Horse Pass (WHP) Motorsports Park (20000 S. Maricopa Rd., Chandler, AZ 85226).

In addition to offering free and discounted tickets to first responders, WHP and the NHRA will present up to five first responders, selected by the Phoenix Fire Safety Director, with a special tribute on stage during the opening ceremonies held on Saturday, February 24th.

We are excited to be third year sponsors of Jonathan’s Walk4Friendship! A record number of people attended last year’s walk and even more are expected this year.

Jonathan’s Walk4Friendship is a 1 mile walk fundraiser that also helps increase awareness for The Friendship Circle – a nonprofit organization for individuals with special needs.  100% of the money raised will be used to support Friendship Circle’s mission of bringing friendship and inclusion into the lives of children who have special needs while also provide support to their parents and siblings.

Walk in Memory of Jonathan & The Joy of the Friendship Circle

 
Jonathan was a participant of the Friends at Home program. Friends at Home creates a fun opportunity for teenage volunteers to spend quality time with children with special needs within the comfort of their own homes.

Jonathan and his buddy Adam spent countless hours enjoying camaraderie, friendship, and true acceptance. Both of the boy’s families also connected and developed a lasting friendship. This bond truly reflects the meaning of the Friendship Circle.

After a short battle with cancer in 2010, Jonathan left this world behind. This annual walk is dedicated in his memory and the culture of kindness that he was part of within the teenage community.

What is the Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Foundation?

 
SALEF is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit that has been on a mission since 2003 to raise money for much needed life-saving training, equipment and technology for Tucson law enforcement officers. The Foundation also works closely with various Tucson law enforcement agencies to offer events and programs that are geared at engaging and bringing local community members together with local law enforcement officers you serve and protect them on a daily basis.

Lerner and Rowe teamed up with Fitz Madrid from 98KUPD and the Maricopa County StandDown to help raise funds that will be used to provide local high-risk and homeless veterans with one-day bus passes to assist them with any transportation needs.

The response was HUGE! Maricopa County StandDown’s original request was for 2,000 bus passes, and they were given 4,200. KUPD listeners raised $3,600 and our founder Kevin Rowe decided to go ahead and donate the full $5,000 that he had agreed to match dollar-to-dollar at the beginning of the fundraiser.

Joan Serviss, executive director of Arizona Housing Coalition, said that the 4,200 will cover bus rides for veterans for the next 6 months so that they can make it to the VA, a job interview, school, and anywhere else Valley Metro goes.

Our very own Kevin Rowe is teaming up with Fitz Madrid from 98KUPD and the Maricopa County StandDown to provide local homeless veterans with one-day bus passes to assist with any of their transportation needs.

Many homeless vets have no means of transportation preventing them from obtaining the things they may need. With your help we can provide those who served our country with a day pass to get where they need to be, whether that be to work, to an interview, an appointment, the grocery store, the pharmacy, etc.

For the 3rd year in a row, Lerner and Rowe’s team is pleased to support the Lake Havasu community by sponsoring the annual Havasu Balloon Festival and Fair. This family-friendly event offers something for all ages for three fun-filled days!

Plus, a portion of proceeds raised will be given back to assist local charities make a difference in the lives of those in Lake Havasu City.

Approximately 30,000 – 50,000 spectators are expected to attend the 2018 Balloon Festival and Fair. Special event traffic and parking plans will be in effect through Sunday, January 21 at 10:30 PM. Lerner and Rowe Gives Back is honored to be a Silver Tribute Sponsor of NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl’s 2017 Heroes Tribute Program.  Part of that sponsorship includes sending 75 Southern Arizona Heroes to the bowl game at the Arizona Stadium on Friday, December 29 at 3:30 p.m.
